Working with MSA on your web development means you have options. These options range from a total "do it yourself" experience (although we never will leave you stranded are will be available for help always!) to a complete guided, custom design, or anywhere in between. In a custom site situaltion, we walk you through the planning process so that we can get the best data, copy and graphics for you, on to the development stage where we produce the copy and graphics together and finally to the implementation of your completed site that is published for you to the world on our network.
Planning a Web site is a two-part process: first you gather your strategy on who you are, who you are trying to reach and what do you have to offer them! The second part is creating a planning document. This could be a 1 page document that details what you intend to do and why, to a full business plan style document that pin-points what technology and content you'll need, how long the process will take (should take), what you can afford (budget), and how you hit your benchmarks. The site specification document is so important to creating a successful site, guide to reaching the benchmarks you set to keep the goals you set.
A good plan is your best first step. Any plan that you are invested in will keep you organized and focused on your task! Don't be afraid to go outside of the box, this is a changing technology, however, don't go too far off your plan to avoid "the project that never gets done"! You website is something that will grow and change, but you initial business or organization structure or plan will mostly stay the same. Treat it like your business plan!
Every project poses unique challenges, but the overall process of developing a comprehensive Web site generally follows five major stages:
